As of 1 February 2001 Swisscom will significantly reduce the tariffs for its Broadband Connectivity Service which was rolled out last year. This reduction will apply to the 256 Kbit/s and the 512 Kbit/s accesses. The same level of quality will be guaranteed. The monthly access charge for 256 Kbit/s will be reduced by 44% to CHF 39 and by 53% to CHF 54 for 512 Kbit/s. The one-off alteration and connection charges (incl. disconnection) are now just CHF 200. Swisscom Wholesale hopes the price reduction will help the new technology to take hold and encourage Switzerland's 300 Internet service providers to develop the service.
