The consistently strong increase in the number of Internet domain names being assigned means that infrastructure is efficiently utilised and the total cost per domain reduced. SWITCH, the registry responsible for domain names ending .ch and .li, is to pass this cost reduction on to its customers. It will reduce prices by 50% (40 CHF) or 30% (35 CHF) as of the middle of the year. The new prices apply to new registrations and subscription renewals from 1 July 2001.
