Swisscom is pleased to announce encouraging interim results for 2001. With revenue up 2.8% to CHF 7.02 billion, Earnings before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortisation (EBITDA) rose by 8.3% year-on-year to CHF 2.28 billion. At CHF 1.21 billion, the operating income (EBIT before gains on property divestments) was up 8.8% year-on-year. Net income increased to CHF 5.36 billion, mainly due the sale of a 25% stake in Swisscom Mobile AG to Vodafone and property divestments. For the full financial year 2001, Swisscom expects a slight rise in revenue and substantially higher net income than in 2000. Should the market situation not change substantially in the second half, Swisscom aims to achieve a full-year EBITDA similar to that of the previous year.
